2008 FRENCH ALPS - Famous Climbs
L'Alpe d'Huez. Col de la Madeleine. Galibier. Glandon. Telegraph. Croix de Fer.
The classic climbs of the French Alps are responsible for creating cycling heroes and cycling lore. Merely reading the names of these famed climbs typically invokes a sense of awe in cyclists. Standing atop their summits invokes a sense of accomplishment and pride, not to mention lifelong "bragging rights."
Join MJCT as we embark on a serious assault of these celebrated climbs, while also taking in the beauty and serenity of what is one of the most scenic regions in all of Europe, if not the world. The first part of the trip has us in a quaint ski village, on the slopes of Le Croix de Fer, just 8 kilometers from Col du Glandon and a few more to the other illustrious ascents. If you're the type who lives for climbing peak after glorious peak, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven.
The second part of the trip is spent on Lake Annecy, perhaps the single most beautiful and relaxing place in all of France. Of course, you'll have the option to ride yet more magnificent/majestic summits, or simply choose to circumnavigate the lake itself. Either way, the experience will be one to remember.
Complementing each day's ride will be the comforts befitting the famed Alps: charming accommodations, excellent dining, incredible regional wines, and a friendly and attentive staff, all with an attention to detail.
